Well the first session went well, took awhile to sort out everyone’s characters but that always happens and even more so when people haven’t played this edition or even D&D before, but there is always a bit of.. not unease more hesitance.. When you get a group of people who have mostly not met before or played any games before. What everyone likes and dislikes and how they play is something that while you can talk about beforehand it generally comes down to just playing a few sessions and seeing how things go. Overall I think people had fun, or at least I hope they did, though I made a few mistakes or at least a few things came up that I had doubts over… Mostly about the battle with the goblins at the end. I didn’t warn the scouts that they were taking too long and were very close to the enemy while talking, I’m think I should have made it clear that chatting isn’t always out of character, and when I asked if Grimbol wanted to rage I probably should have been more leading as new players sometimes feel like they have to save everything and sometimes that can be fatal. Also the goblin fight was rather a hard fight for the groups first encounter but then the group has very stealthy characters and with an ambush half the goblins could have been killed before they even knew what happened.
Oh well we’ll have to wait till next month to see what happens.
