Feanaro spent a short amount of time talking to Dekin but it was hard to get much information out of this excitable little creature, the Holy Book of The Mighty Lord was missing almost all the pages just the first few and the last (I will post these separately when I write them up fully) but it appeared to be a journal from the last lord of Moya just after he was betrayed and was leaving instructions for his heir (The letter with the amulet spoke of the heir accepting this place)
One thing Dekin did say was that it was his job to warn the new Mighty Lord that the magic of this place was very low and could end unless the rituals were complete and the words of the book followed, even if those words were missing, and the first step was for the Mighty Lord to go into “The Vault” and speak the oath. This got most of the party interested and they went forward, down a yet an unexplored tunnel. Though Dekin warned that there was a monster that ate the brains of its victims said to live on this level, Dekin having spent almost his whole life of 6 years in the caves below.
They avoided the acid traps and came to a large room with the sigil of Moya on the floor and four large stone tablets written in various languages saying the same thing, it was hard to understand what was required but Feanaro stood on the sigil and spoke the oath written down and was subsequently paralysed as the tablets all lowered revealing undead abominations which attacked. At the same time a tear in the fabric of reality appeared next to Feanaro and a hideous round floating creature with a single great eye and tentacle like stalks sprouting from its form each with a smaller eye. The battle was brief and bloody with Grimbol eager to face such a hideous creature, Garlon’s new magical eye cackled with power as he knew that this creature was an abomination and a foe of his god Vim. Knowing that he would strike his fellows but being driven by the need to eradicate this abomination Garlon released the power stored within The Left Eye of Vim and a bolt of holy lighting struck this Eye creature as well as Torvad Hax. The zombies where slain quickly by the rest of the party and it was Grimbol who got the killing blow on the beast with a great roar of victory he buried his axe in its central eye.
The Sigil or Moya collapsed downward forming a staircase which Feanaro, still paralysed, tumbled down. Anvil congratulated Grimbol on his kill, maybe he wasn’t useless after all, but Grimbol still raging and exhilarated by victory misinterpreted the complement as a sign of courtship tried to sweep up Anvil in a heroic “Humphrey bogart style kiss”, this did not go down well with Anvil pushing him away and then unleashing her magic to psychically cripple Grimbol and when this failed she threw an axe at him. No longer raging Grimbol realised his error but was too embarrassed to apologise so he quickly explored the stairway and the corridor beyond (Read: He fled. It’s worth noting that we had a guest player as Grimbol that day)
The short stairway led to a corridor with many suits of armour, mostly rusted but a few functional, and a doorway with a sign that read “Vault of Souls” inside was a small shrine to the Goddess Alune and within the shrine were a lot of empty and cracked “Soul Gems” of which the party had a few empty and one full, Grimbol replaced one of the cracked gems and the whole room seemed to hum with power. Feanaro upon reading the writing of the shrine made the final oath cementing his ownership of Fort Moya, leaving him massively exhausted.
The party went back and rested in the “War Room” as they called it, with the banners and the illusion map of the surrounding area. After the short rest it was decided that they would then go and try and enter the Sanctum of the Commander of the Mortal Bastions as Dekin tells of how the Mighty Lord can give titles and powers to those loyal to them, sadly no one wanted to give Dekin a real title just yet but he was given the title “Exalted keeper if the Lords confidence” until he could prove his loyalty. Corwin took the oath of loyalty to the Lord of Moya and a second amulet magically appeared in his hand, though this one has the sigil of Moya on one side and a likeness of Corwin on the other. They went to the Vault door hoping to get to the armoury mentioned in the Book of the Mighty Lord but while Corwin attuned to his new amulet outside the vault door a creature dropped down from the holes above (Ah, forgot to add last session that there were large holes in the ceiling above the vault door and Aikin had his Bat fly up there… it died. But the party moved on) Aikin was watching those small tunnels closely and give a warning shout to the group before the creature could strike.
A Mindflayer, abomination and terror of the Shadowlands though this one appeared feral in starved, attacked the party and once again Team Awesome proved their name as they cut the beast down with little effort. The beast let out a psychic scream that our brave heroes shrugged off though the baby held by Garlon screamed and almost died instantly, who knows what long term effects such trauma could have on a child. As Grimbol leapt up with his axe to deliver the final blow on this vile creature he heard Anvil’s insulting words pierce through his rage causing him to miss and the finally blow instead went to Feanaro’s magical missiles (Prof in Dekin’s eyes that this WAS the Mighty Lord he had waited his whole life for).
And that is where we ended that session, two big battles vs dangerous foes plus we started a little later.
