The Year is 2258.
Though the Minbari Empire has fallen to occupy a small fraction of its territory its legacy still lives on. Almost completely gone are nations comprised of a single race, the Dwarven clan holds, Elven forest cities, gnomish burrows and Halfling shires, all absorbed with one common language.
Humans make up the majority of most populations and inhabit every nation with the possible exception of Vorlon, which no one truly knows what hides within the mists of the Vorlon sea, they also hold the majority of the power in the fractured nations that remain after the rise of Za’ha’dum. Sadly one of the legacies of the Minbari Empire is the belief that humans are inherently better than other sentient races and that the natural order of things is for other races to be subservient to them, this is by no means a universal belief but it is extremely common within the lands that were once part of the Minbari Empire.
Dwarves once had great city nations within the mountains of Tarsonis but their kingdoms started to crumble as the dwarven people became afflicted with the Curse of Stone. It was not long before their homes were abandoned and the survivors fled to the surface to live among the other races. Welcomed with open arms by the Minbari Empire as Dwarves were held in high esteem by the Emperor at the time and generally respected for their dedication and work ethic they gave little problems with other races within the empire.
Halflings have never had any major settlements, though once you could find a small shire in almost every land, and were quickly absorbed into the Empire. Often mistaken for small childlike humans with a gentle disposition many Halflings have to struggle to gain recognition and respect from other races there are those rare Halflings that remind the world that they can be as ruthless and deadly as creatures four times their height.
Wood Elves used to have great nations within Tarsonis or so it is said. The Wood Elves were once like their high elf kin from Vorlon until the great doom known only as The Long Shadow came and not only slaughtered their people but somehow removed almost ever written trace that they were ever anything but the wondering travellers known today.
High Elves living are descendent that travelled to Tarsonis from Vorlon, never a very high population to begin with they’ve become rarer due to their low birth rates and their ability to interbreed with humans. The first High Elves brought with them a rich knowledge of the Arcane and due to their longer life spans and natural affinity towards magic meant they were often sort out by Human nobles to be tutors and advisers.
Drow existed within Tarsonis before the rise of Za’ha’dum but they were extremely rare but since being defeated in the Thousand Eye War they have formed a number of city states within the Shadowlands and a few cast outs travel and live within the other nations though they are often faced with outright hostility because of the war and the reputation of their people.
Dragonborn were brought to Tarsonis by the Minbari Empire from the Red Wastes as slaves, before the practice was restricted to capital punishment only, and intentionally kept apart from others of their kind when not working in labour camps. It’s only in recent years that you will see Dragonborn in groups larger than that of a small family and they are met with distrust and often fear.
Gnomes used to have small village burrows within the hillsides and were never overly fond of crowded cities and so suffered greatly when the Minbari Empire implemented its policy of forced migration to boost the growth of its frontier settlements. Seen as odd, eccentric or just plain mad by many, they have never fully integrated with the Minbari Empire.
Halforcs are distrusted but relatively common after the Thousand Eye War due to the ease with which human and orcs can interbreed. Not all Halforcs have an Orc parent as often the offspring of such unions appear either fully Orc or Human and later generations will give birth to a visible mixed species child.
Tiefling are rare, some say they share the bloodline with the first Drazi Demon Kings, some are born and others were once human but became changed by their dealings with forces better left alone. Feared and shunned in most lands due to their demonic visage they gain the most acceptance within Drazi and Dilgar.
Goliaths do live among the low lands but not very often any more since the Minbari Empire no longer exists to force the migration of these giant mountain folk to the lowlands, most still live with their people in the high mountains but traders and travellers are not so rare to cause much comment. Despite their size and strength Goliaths have a reputation for honesty and restraint, though this may just be due to the rarity of their visits and dishonourable to shame your village with bad behaviour when in other lands.
Warforged is the name that has been given to the strange intelligent constructs that started appearing in the last few years. Often these creatures of living wood and metal are found damaged with no memory of how they arrived there but their strong desire to work has meant that the distrust felt towards them is often outweighed by the desire to exploit them. Who knows what their arrival heralds for the future of Tarsonis.
Genasi are almost unheard of within Tarsonis but there are tales of lost humans within the Red Wastes that were found by strange sprits and taken as lovers who sired half human giants. But people rarely take these tales seriously.

Major Nations of the Known World:
The Year is 2258
Minbar: Once the Great and Powerful Minbari Empire stretched across the Tarsonis now reduced to a fraction of its size and power. Many over nations still hold long grudges over the Empire that ruled over them for so long and so harshly but since the Thousand Eye War and the War of Separation that fallowed Minbar hasn’t been in any real open conflict. Despite the great losses over the years Minbar still boasts some of the greatest centers of learning from the mundane, Arcane and Mystical. Yet like most things left in Minbar it is but a pale reflection of what once was.
People from Minbar tend to fall loosely into three categories, those that pretend they are from somewhere else, those that accept the past is past but aren't defined by it, and those who wish to rebuild the Empire.
Vorlon: This nation exists somewhere out beyond the Sea of Storms. Though Elves have come to other lands upon their strange silver ships no Elf has ever told the secret of how to cross the sea or find Vorlon though many believe that the knowledge has actually been taken away by some unknown means since no bribery, pain or magical means has ever gleaned the knowledge of how to survive the Sea of Storms and no navy has ever successfully captured a one of the Vorlon ships.
Sightings of Vorlon ships have become an even rarer sight since the fall of Minbar and many no longer believe such a place ever existed. Most Elven folk have lived among the various nations of Tarsonis for generations now but every so often you may meet an Elf who claims to have come from beyond the known world.
Drazi: The Dukedoms of the Drazi Kingdom are many and scattered upon a map it may look like this land stretches from the west coast of Tarsonis all the way to the Skyreach mountains but you would be wrong. Drazi is in fact a huge collection of small nation states with only a vague figurehead as central government with many a Duke often actively at war with each other. Before the blood of the fallen during the Thousand Eye War had even had time to dry the original Drazi Dukes declared the Minbar Empire dead and claimed back the ancestral lands conquered so many generations before starting an era now known as The War of Separation.
Dukes of Drazi: The Family name of the major Dukes of Drazi comes from the titles of the original seven Kings that united to form the Drazi nation, known as the Demon Kings.
Duke Regulus Blackhand:
Duke Sliscus Ironheart
Duke Cartagia Darklighter
Duke Draal Shatter Skull
Duke Naroon Moonshroud
Duke Turhan Honorbound
Duke Ulkesh Soulshared
Dilgar: Remnants of The Undefeated Sharlin Fleet of Minbar these serving captains and crews formed a loose alignment of island clans after they were unable to return home on pain of death for failing to reach the Vorlon homeland five years before Z'ha'dum shrouded the centre of Minbar in shadow. Historians cite the loss of the Sharlin Fleet and with it the prime of Minbar’s military and skilled battle mages was in fact the first sign that the Minbar Empire was failing and even without the rise of Z’ha’dum the Empire wouldn’t have lasted the century.
Home to an assortment of Pirates, Thieves, Warlocks, Outcasts and Misfits, Dilgar is the place where anything can be found for the right price and as the War of Separation became more bloody more then one noble house bought safe passage out to the Dilgar islands
The Shadowlands: In the very heart of what was the great Minbari Empire now lies a land of ash and shadow. Nothing close to a unified country The Shadowlands is everything covered under the dark clouds of Z'ha'dum the great volcano that heralded the downfall of the Minbari. This land is populated with monsters and filled with former residence of the Underdark, human renegades and slaves. An extremely dangerous place that people still have traveled there and returned speaking of the strange land where the sun is hidden behind the ash of Z'ha'dum.
The fiery mountain Z’ha’dum burst forth when the last Minbar Emperor returned to public life after being disgraced by the loss of the Sharlin Fleet. He ordered every single priest, mage and magic user to his palace to join in what he referred to The Undertaking. None still live who knows what this undertaking was to be, or if they do none speak of it.
The Shattered Lands: These lands are the broken remains of the old Minbari Empire, great cities lay abandoned only ventured into by the brave or foolhardy who think the cursed cites will not destroy them. While there were several cities destroyed during the Thousand Eye War, such as Thundara, many others remained untouched celebrating victory and survival for over a year there was peace…
In the spring of AA2040 the Secession Wars began, though it was not thought of as such at the time. The Minbari Empire had conquered or absorbed all the territory upon the main land of Tarsonis and once the Thousand Eye War was over old dreams of independence started to sprout forth. It started as a refusal to pay the heavy taxes imposed by the Emperor after the war, many of those cities untouched by the war refused to become impoverished in order to rebuild the forts and settlements far towards the mountains bordering the Shadowlands. The Imperial Army didn’t have the power to enforce these taxes so soon after the war and so the emperor thought to use the generational grudges still lingering between the cities once belonging to different nations by conscripting soldiers from one city to take payment from another. It was not long before the offence caused turned to bloodshed for what proud Nobel of the once great Markab nation ever lower themselves to paying taxes to the Pak’ma’ra! The Vree once swore they would die before letting Markab troops enter their lands! An Emperor who forced such an insult upon them is no Emperor at all! Thus, started the Secession Wars.
During the Thousand Eye War had commissioned many great arcane weapons of destruction though few were ready to be deployed before the war ended, the brief peace was enough time for some of these to be completed, the results of these weapons is all around to see. Empty dead and cursed cities that no sane person would try and live within. Also, scarred the land creating areas where the barriers between this world and the elemental worlds is weakened, strange and deadly creatures are known to wonder the wilds lost and angry. The Shattered Lands are dotted with small independent settlements that struggle to rebuild all that was lost. Those who live near the northern mountain ranges are still often raided by slavers from the Shadowlands to add yet another danger. Yet despite all this the people the Shattered Lands preserver and strive toward a better tomorrow who knows one day these small settlements may unite to form a new nation, but that day is not yet here.
The Draconis Combine: A new kingdom formed within the area known as The Shattered Lands; due to the emergence of several clans with strong sorcerer bloodlines and powerful magic’s. The Combine has embraced the slave trade popular within the Shadowlands and they’ve formed their fledgling kingdom within the ruins of the old cities which no others have dared to live for the past two hundred years.
Korhol Conclave: The Korhol Conclave is an old kingdom, one of the last to be conquered by the Minbar Empire and one of the few lands never to feel the ravages of the War of 1000 Eyes. The people of Korhol claim that their safety is due to the skill and bravery of their many knightly orders though other nations say it is because Korhol did not answer the Empires call to arms during the war and kept all of its troops defending its own boarders. Now the Conclave lets no travelers pass without permit on pain of death and very few permits are ever given, while they do trade with other nations they almost never let traders in.
Stormreach Islands: Far to the north and east of Minbar and out into the sea of endless storms lay the nine islands that make up the Kingdom of Yggard, home of the fearsome Valkyr. These skilled and hardy seafarers have a reputation as fierce raiders and traders and are among the few peoples never to have been conquered by the Minbari Empire. The sight of the storm scarred raiding ships can strike terror into even the most stalwart Dilgar captain or costal town watch. Predominantly human in population there is a sizable Dwarf population that immigrated to the islands centuries ago.
Red Wastes: Far to the south across the sea is the barren wasteland where many Dragonborn still reside. The peoples of Tarsonis have only ever found blistering heat and a slow death among the red sands and it is believed that there is nothing of note within this vast land. Stories of great elder dragons and cities made from glass have always been considered pure bardic fantasy brought on by heat stroke.
The Outer Rim: To be updated Later.
Northrend: To be updated Later.
Unknown Lands: The eastern edge of Tarsonis is the immense mountain range, called the Skyreach Mountains by many, which stretch from the southern part of Tarsonis all the way up to the ice plans of Northrend. It is said that no traveler has ever retuned with credible proof, though many a bard has boasted about their visits, of what lies beyond. Tales as old as the awakening speak of a strange peoples that live beyond and how magic runs wild in the land.
Other Peoples:
The Wondering Tribes: Commonly called "Wood Elves" These distant relations of the Vorlons couldn't be more different often shunning the Arcane they have developed a strong connection with nature. The Wood Elves very rarely stay in one place long constantly traveling the length and breadth of Tarsonis. Sometimes young members of other races often attracted to this seemingly carefree lifestyle. Rarely known for their violence the tribes have still learnt to defend themselves. Druids, Rangers, Bards are often drawn to this life style and can be found among these people.
The Stone That Stands: Goliath's from the tallest peaks are very rare in the lower lands of Tarsonis but many a settlement near the mountains of the world has had a Goliath trader wonder in to share their love of games and stories. These Goliath’s talk of how the many tribes of Goliath’s united during the Thousand Eye War and live apart from the rest of their people.
Those who live in the mountains bordering with the Shadow Lands are spoken off with a mixture of fear and awe as some of the most unrelenting and dangerous warriors and claim that it is they who have kept the ash of Z'ha'dum from covering all the land, though how they do this is something they will not speak to outsiders about.
The Town of GlassShadow: Is a coastal town of average size with its own Brewery and a history of Goblin attacks. so maintains a larger then normal guard so many in fact that it has a barracks. This means there is always work going in the town if you show skill as a young person you work in the Brewery if not you work in the Guard with a few families normally covering the other needed Jobs around town like the Blacksmith and his two sons. Despite the attacks the town has been growing over the years and has recently had a boom from a most unlike group of people. After one of the Goblin attacks on the town was stopped by a Drow of all people and the child of the school saved by a Tiefling the people have been more kind and open mind to homeless or wonders of the races. Not silly enough to just open there town to every one but kind enough not to just turn people away A new section of the town has started being built just outside the main wall with A new expansion of the wall being made as well both people from inside the town and the new people are working together on this with any new comers having to prove they want to be a part of the city by helping build and protect the town. 2 years service has been ruled before some one may move in to the main walls but with this rule the town hopes to build in to a city and to only let them in that are Loyal.
The City of Thundera (under major reconstruction)
Thundera was the 1st large city attacked by the Drow and there allies in the great war. Thousands died on both sides of the walls and it toke an attack by a very old black Dragon to make an opening in the wall after that it was just a matter of time the 1st major push after the wall fell was lead by a Horde of over 50 Hydras followed by a large group of Beholders the people of the city did there best to flee but very few made it out. the building of the city fared little better with over 70% knocked or burnt to the ground only the town hall was left untouched as a symbol by the leader of the Drow forces.
