With Saru having gone off to found his own temple of The Way the remaining members of the party decided they should probably do something about the bandit hoard that had been attacking the town gates since just after they turned up and that Betty the triceratops would probably be an asset in this situation.
Another group of heroes had been defending the gates but were now down to just one member, a mage who stood defiant against the hoard.
After a quick debate Damakos decided that diplomacy was clearly the best choice and walked forward to talk to the bandits...getting a ballista shot at him for his troubles.
The rest of the party decided to go for a more aggressive stance and prepared for battle.
At the back of the group Immeral noticing that the brigands were backed up to the edge of a cliff decided to cast Gust of Wind and whilst a number of his party were pushed towards the enemy the brigand leader, a dwarf, was pushed back off the cliff to his doom.
A mass brawl ensued during which Harbeck swung wildly and accidentally killed the heroic mage that had been holding off the horde by himself. But with the loss of their leader the rest of the brigands prove easy for the party to defeat, however, just as it seemed an easy victory was on the cards a giant bolder came hurtling out of the sky.
Feeling empowered Zrayax decided he was going to heroicly catch it...which he kind of did, though it was more a case of he got right underneath it and it landed on him, but still...good effort? The party then saw the thrower of the bolder turn up in the form of a huge giant.
Immeral, feeling confident, charged in but failed to do anything other than provide an easy target, going down in one hit from the behemoth club.
Damakos then sent Betty into the fray and the triceratops charged and gored the giant taking it off feet, which allowed the rest of the party to pile in and finish it off for good.
Healing up Immeral the party looted the brigands and took one of the ballista to strap to Betty back and Harbeck was able to retrieve a gun the leader had dropped and decided to keep it for himself.
As the day came to a close they travelled back to report in and then go back to the inn for the night.
