A taste of Adventure.
Write up for Nov - Dec games.
*Fake coughing to get attention* “Right now students, lets begin. Settle down. Settle down! Destan return Melton’s notebook this instant”
“Now, please turn to the chapter on; Chult: The Soul Devourer. I trust you’ve all read last weeks reading, ah Floressa by your look of panic I’ll assume you are quiet up to date!”
*Another loud obnoxious cough* “Let us begin, now as you know once the danger was discovered the bold, the brave and the desperate raced to Port Nyanzaru to set about discovering the source of the Death Curse plaguing the land and draining the lifeforce of those returned to the mortal realm by divine magics.”
“Now continuing our talk on vital adventuring bands of the time; The Sharp Tongues, as they were then known, ran into trouble before they even made it to Port Nyanzaru. If you haven’t read the recounting of their encounter with Old Aremag in the Bay of Chult and the perils of using magics such as the Cauldron of Winds, then please do so after class.”
“If witness statements from the crew are to be believed The Sharp Tongues volunteered to go ashore and find suitable materials for repairing the main mast that had been damaged in the arcane storm. Now details of their actual journey are incomplete but piecing together reports of later conversations with the crew and recovered notes taken by party members it is safe to assume that the following events took place with a reasonable degree of accuracy.”
“Upon being rowed ashore by First Mate Brag, The Shape Tongues briefly explored the ruins of the old loading dock and it’s burnt out buildings of Jahaka Bay, and yes they did dig up the night soil… really there is no reason for humour as they simply wished to determine what type of creature had camped in the ruins a few days previously. Traveling up the path toward the abandoned mine they knew was ahead they traversed the climb up past the three falls of the River Tath with little difficulty and it was here that they had their first encounter with creatures native to Chult, yes yes the cute yet dangerous Flying Monkey of Chult. Make no mistake these curious creatures may not be hostile but more than one adventuring group of the time owed their demise to having vital rations and equipment stolen by these creatures.”
“After scaring off the critters The Sharpe Tongues moved on to the old mine, now currently occupied by Goblins of the Yellyark tribe, if his own accounts are to be believed Professor Golden successfully communicated with these aggressive and savage creatures and came to an accord. Now it is widely believed to be pure fiction on the part of Professor Golden but it is not beyond the realm of possibility. As they ventured further into the Amber Mine they encountered members of a previous adventuring party, some in the prosses of being eaten by the goblins, some captured to be devoured later and apparently a Necromancer who had taken control of the local goblins.”
“I am inclined to believe the accounts of the battle that took place, that there was a Necromancer within the Amber Mine is backed up by the artefacts The Sharpe Tongues recovered, though their account lists a battle trapped between the shambling undead and goblins which clearly would have resulted in the destruction of The Sharpe Tongues. Regardless of the actual number of combatants involved The Sharpe Tongues recovered a number of wooden planks that had been made into a gallows, perhaps the Necromancer was attempting to create a tormented soul or some other purpose for hanging his victims before raising them. Regardless the only witness of this battle was the sole surviving adventurer and the book “Accounts and Recollections of Reginald Montague Withal Archbold III” has been proven to be sheer flights of fancy.”
“On a related note; If I am forced to read one more essay claiming that Mr Archbold III was some sort of goblin in disguise that person will be in detention for a month, am I clear!”
“What can be comfortably sure of is that The Sharpe Tongues returned to Prince of the Apocalypse with enough wooden planks to reinforce the main mast and allow the ship to sail north to Port Nyanzaru without issue.”
“Now, please each group describe five possible dangers while visiting a foreign ports….”
