Again this write up is rather late so I may be wrong on some of the details but I’ll edit it later once people correct me.
After defeating… well after the Red Dragon in human form decided it had to be elsewhere the party searched the campsite and found the camp and found a chest with deeds of sale referring to the selling of child slaves to parties unnamed, though they had marked the parchment with the seal of one of the Draconis Combine houses. These sorcerer lords who had claimed back a number of the cursed cities within the shattered lands over the last few years and started up their own kingdom were known to keep slaves though it seemed odd they would be this far north east but it did make sense to some why a dragon seemed to be under some sort of outside influence, rumours called the Draconis Combine “Dragon Lords”. They went back to the Wood Elf caravan and picked up Denny and Aiken and continued on their journey back to the Abby of the Dreamer.
The avoided the village of Darkshire and went straight up the hill and upon reaching the Abby they were greeted by a heavily armoured dwarf named Lando, who was expecting them and greeted their new travelling companion Garlon with great respect as a Cleric of Vim. He flatly refused to allow Denny their dim-witted half-orc healer simply stating that “Curse or no curse I won’t allow such a murderer to enter” Denny accepted this as normal and said he’d wait outside and that he used to do “bad things” but he’s good now and doesn’t hurt people, there was some talk about exactly who Denny had killed but apparently it was lots and “mostly unarmed people as they were easier to kill, but I don’t do that anymore”.
Lando summoned of a young human by the name of Soter to escort them through the Abby to speak to the Abbot, Higgins took this opportunity to race ahead. (Note: I had forgotten to add last write up that Higgins was found wounded at the Wood Elf caravan as he too had accepted their hospitality for the night) after a few failed attempts by Aiken to convince his guide to let him wonder off in search of a privy they ended up waiting outside the Abbots study while Higgins gave his report.
After a long wait, which grated at Grimbol most of all, they were allowed to speak to the Abbot. This exceptionally old Drow named Fabian looked tired and annoyed when they entered but having taken a vow of silence all the conversation was done by his assistant Nolan, who was equally unhappy with the group’s performance and the threats and attacks on Higgins’ life. After a lot of shifting the blame on others and demands to know why they were chasing a fake book Nolan told Corwin to come clean. It turns out that the Abbot, via Nolan, had asked Corwin to swap the real book for the fake one that they gave him so the party could destroy the book with Higgins as witness in order to calm the peasants in the nearby villages as well as spreading false information about the book being destroyed to stop others from coming to try and steal it in the future, Corwin took out and handed the real book to Nolan having swapped it back when he first laid hands on it.
Nolan explained that the Abbot had an extremely dangerous task at hand and due to the oaths given when the Abby was built he cannot sent his any of his followers unless there is a direct threat from a supernatural evil, and there wasn’t one… yet. It seems that the Tower of Jedha had been found and the Abbot also had a way to break the warding and allow entry but wanted a trustworthy group to purge the place of evil, no one seemed to have heard of this tower but they were eager to go but the Abbot would not send them until he was convince that they would survive as once the warding was removed then anyone could entre and anything could get out.
And so Nolan told them of various troubles afflicting the region, just outside of the area that the Abby protected, and told them to be off and be a tad more heroic this time also they were to take Higgins with them as a witness. After some negotiations they ended up with a small crow which would follow and watch them and they would head south to the trading post of Longbridge to deal with the reports of slavers stealing children. Not wanting to travel back north east to the Iron Woods to deal with reports of a strange huge beast, that they believed may well be the dragon they faught, and not heading west to the ruined city of Kessel in search of an agent of the Abby named Malastare who had been working with Corwin’s old master or even heading over to Raven Hill to find out what the priest there was so angry about (They argued that slavers would be simple and most level appropriate, oh how I chuckled )
After a quick visit to the village of Duskvale where Torvad met Tekk the blacksmith and paid for his full plate to be resized to fit him and Feanaro and Aiken went to visit the herbalist Betsey who also ran a cat sanctuary they bought a number of healing potions and Feanaro got two kittens, Aiken got just one thrown in as a deal with the potions. The rest had sat down within The Drowsy Servant and met Kell an extremely portly Halfling chef who made great food but served piss poor ale.
The Journey south towards Longbridge was interrupted by a man sprinting past them as they camped one night screaming “TROLL! TROLL IN THE WOODS!”, Grimbol was in no mood to wait around and no matter how Aiken tried to convince him to wait and let him scout out the Dwarven Slayer refused to let another be the first to tackle a real Troll. So with the others following quickly behind, still out of armour due to the eagerness of Grimbol, they went troll hunting but what they found was a lurking Ogre with some giant spider pets and Team Awesome once more leapt into the fray.
The spiders, while dangerous, quickly had a few of their number slain and Garlon soon found out that charging towards an Ogre without any armour to be a highly dangerous act as a javelin struck him causing a grievous wound. Grimbol was unable to close with the Ogre due to the spiders blocking his way but remembering his newfound magical item he thrust forward his codpiece of lightning and did a lot of damage to both spider and Ogre. Feanaro been keen to continue his trend of being undamaged throughout their adventures stayed back shooting bolts of fire, while trying to keep hold of two rather scared kittens, while Torvad, Corwin and Aiken finished off the wounded spiders and Ogre.

And that is where we left it sadly Feanaro was unable to be here for the session so we kept him nice and safe and under a guest player control so he now has two kittens to care for. Team Awesome continued its usual trend of failing to roll high for most of any battle.
