The city of Thundera is in a mess.
The first large city attacked by the Drow in the Great War, it was very nearly raised completely in the attack, so much so that it has taken years for people to seriously consider re-populating it.
Now though a group of business people and some descendants of the cities' original inhabitants have returned to once again make the city what it once was.
In order to help achieve this the city council advertised for hardy adventurers to come and aid in the rebuilding efforts.
Five answered the call voluntarily: Harbeck Frostbeard, a Dwarven Paladin; Sin'dorii, a Wood Elf Ranger; Saru, a Wood Elf Monk; Damakos, a Tiefling Warlock; and Zrayax Daardendrian, a Dragonborn Barbarian.
A sixth member, Immeral Amakiir, a Wood Elf Cleric, was “convinced” to join the group in return for an early release from prison.
Whilst Immeral was waiting for the papers for his release to be signed the other five party members arrived at the run down inn that they had been given as their meeting point. After initial greetings and introductions between the group were made, (which mainly involved Saru handing out pamphlets talking about something called “The Way” and Damakos accidentally throwing an empty keg of beer at Zrayax's head causing the Dragonborn to fall down the stairs to the basement whilst searching for any alcohol left in the place), the party were met by the Mayor who teleported into the basement of the inn.
He welcomed them to Thundera and gave them the rundown of what was expected of them.
The party's main goal is to find and return four Keystones that will help rebuild portals that will go a long way to quicken the rebuilding process. The locations of three of the Keystones have been narrowed down to certain areas in or around the city, the location of the forth Keystone remains unknown however.
Aside from that, there is a job board outside of the inn that the council and residents will occasionally post jobs /quests that are needed to be done, any help in that regard would be most appreciated.
The party decided to begin simply and took a job from the local Blacksmith to regain his stolen tools from a group of thugs hiding out in cave to the north.
The group found the cave and after a bit of discussion Saru acted as a decoy by walking up to the cave mouth and offering the thugs within pamphlets and insults before running off in an attempt to lure them into an ambush. A plan actually worked and the party were able to off the thugs pretty quickly and returned triumphantly to the blacksmith with his tools intact, albeit with a slightly broken crate.
After a good nights rest the party decided that “Rescue the Duchess” should be the next job as she was the one with the information on and was paying for the “Save the Girls” job.
The party met with Orton, a bard and owner of a fine clothing shop who had a dress for the Duchess (aka owner of the local house of ill repute) and had seen her snatched by hooded figures and taken into an abandoned house down the street.
The party investigated the hose and were jumped by strange rat-men who were dispatched pretty quickly and led the party to a large hole in the basement that led to the sewers.
Once in the sewers the party were attacked by a number of large rat swarms which they didn't have too much trouble with, however in a move he would later swear was meant to happen Saru tried to parkour over the sewage channel to attack one of the swarms and instead ended up face down in the muck.
Upon finding the main lair of the rat-men the party saw The Duchess suspended in the air over a grated pit surrounded by a number of rat-men. As Zrayax was the only party member unable to see in low light conditions Immeral used a light spell anchored to the Duchess so that the barbarian could see what he was swinging at (as opposed to using Zrayax's tail as had been used up 'til now).
The party defeated the rat-men after a hard fought battle and were able to free The Duchess who allowed the party to stay at here establishment for the evening before heading off to save her girls the next day.to edit.
